A fashion media dissertation - 28 days until deadline.

I woke up this morning with the 'Friday feeling', that 'Friday feeling' induced me to spend approximately 2 hours getting ready, a task normally completed in 60 mins flat. Although extremely satisfied with my super-shiny 1940's-inspired curls, I feel my day was somewhat boycotted by the excitement of the 'Friday feeling' quite early on. Followed by an hour of Gilmore Girls (IT WAS THE LAST EPISODE) and buttery crumpets, simply because can you imagine a better morning pursuit, I found myself at midday with very little achieved. I however do have one small excuse for the lack of work, I have been extremely distracted, like really distracted, as tonight I shall be cooking, yes my dear readers I can cook (I hope) and plan to use my culinary skills preparing a Yorkshire classic for my friend's visit tonight. Wish me luck, for I see two possible outcomes, the first being my friends ultimate demise due to inedible food and the second being my ultimate demise due to stress and anticipation. The forecast is grim.

As today's post is essentially me making excuses for my lazy attitude to education (apologies), I'll be sharing some images from a photoshoot I recently shot with my friends for a magazine we were working on called FOUND. The Images formed part of the main-fashion content and were inspired by the Sofia Coppola film 'The Virgin Suicides'. Enjoy dearies.

Tasks for tomorrow: Allsaints-bound.

Music Obsession.

Mistaken for The Smiths but loved nonetheless: The Social - UK Gothic

A fashion media dissertation - 29 days until deadline.

Tonight I am celebrating, celebrating a job well done... with a rocket lolly. Yes readers, today on the 12th January I completed "The Free Press" chapter of my dissertation, and my god it feels good. Apart from a minor breakdown around 11am, where I began to doubt my very ability as a writer, academic and general person of media knowledge, the day went off without a hitch. I must however mention my eagerness to finish writing and so a slightly questionable quote by Napoleon was thrown into my concluding paragraph for good measure. It's possible in the harsh light of day and a better frame of mind, I'll give the conclusion another crack.

In other unrelated news one of my dearest pals, Maxamillion introduced me to the naked picture of Peaches Geldolf. As a result I have very little to say on the subject, because to be honest I am sickened and appalled, WRONG, JUST WRONG. Thankyou Miss Geldolf, the image of you posing in such a strange position will stay with me for life.

Tasks for tomorrow: I plan to investigate the Jackie Kennedy chapter of my dissertation, slightly indulgent I'm sure, but could you honestly think of a women more appropriate when discussing the issue of political trophy wives? I thought not.

It's an oldie but a goodie. Cage the elephant - Ain't not rest for the wicked.

A fashion media dissertation - 30 days until deadline.

Today I became slightly obsessed with Andy Coulson. Not a man I would usually spend hours contemplating, but Coulson-mania has me hook-line-and-sinker. While I fully accept I have my quirks (some people call them anti-social tendencies, those people are fools), dedicating 9 hours to a man without style, taste or possibly integrity is something even beyond the likes of me.

Andy Coulson is the former editor of the News of the World and David Cameron's Director of Communications, having resigned from both roles under the phone-hacking controversy he invariably became the bad boy of the British media, taking a large proportion of the blame for the whole sordid affair. Something I agree with? Undecided, however I do have to wonder how one of News International's brightest young editors could be unaware of illegal practices at a publication under his control. But transparency isn't something we can take for granted from our media and I highly doubt we will ever know what really happened at the News of the World and who really was calling the shots.

I'm getting completely stuck in with "The Free Press" chapter of my dissertation and by George it sounds pretty darn intelligent. It is however starting to resemble a media dissertation rather than a fashion piece, something I really should discuss with my tutor... when I work up the courage.

Tasks for tomorrow: Complete my current chapter, somehow linking the phone-hacking scandal to fashion, may the force be with me.

I will forever love this song: Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zeros - Home

A fashion media dissertation - 31 days until deadline.

With a fast approaching Case Study deadline, I am becoming increasingly concerned, who knew 10,000 words would actually require intense study and research. After initially completing a 2000 word rationale, I vacated for Christmas, abandoning all educational activity for the advantages of all-day drinking, much shopping, the watching of festive movies and arguing with the mother.

Shortly after the haze of New Years cleared I became conscious of the lack of dissertation progress, spurring me into action, this surge of activity (lasting approximately 65 minutes) was short lived but planted the seed of motivation. Now returned to university and with just 31 days to pull together possibly the most important text of my academic career, it has finally dawned on me, I need to get my arse in gear.

Today I took the bull by the horns (not literally, that would be unwise as I have zero experience with animal handling) and visited the university library. Hair perfectly curled and suitably apparelled (avoidance techniques, I am good at these), I managed around 123 minutes in the company of my fellow students (who strangely seemed to be holding a competition of whom could pull together the ugliest ensemble, you, yes you in the petrol green puffa gilet, you win). Needless to say I retreated to the safety of my over-priced flat and tackled the media issues of the day - The Power of the media, the phone-hacking scandal and the Leveson Inquiry. I am now fully versed in the vices of the former News of the World, what Lord Justice Leveson hopes to achieve and how Prince William was followed to a private knee appointment.
Thrilling stuff.

In other un-related news I bought a BaByliss Curling Wand today, I'm hoping it will aid me in my search of Sienna Miller worthy dishevelled curls. Initial performance reports are excellent, my hair is gigantic, which pleases the shiny Plastic within me.

Tasks for tomorrow: Continue investigating the power of the media and acquire a further 1500 words for somewhere, this is in no way an admittance of plagiarism. All work is my own, I hope.

A Pearly Queen.

Have you ever seen anything like it? My god I'm in love. I know I'm slightly bias as Allsaints have been my gracious employers for the last 3 years, but seriously bloooming heck, I need this jacket in my possession.PRONTO.

The Pearly Queen Biker Jacket is vegetable tanned lambskin, embellished with hundreds of Mother of Pearl and tarnished metal buttons, shaped into a classic Biker style. With a price tag of £395, it aint cheap, but very few things in fashion are (I say in a very wise and worldly tone), and I do adore a good leather. Investment purchase, yes that's how I'll justify it to the parentals.

Check it out dearies...

LOVE. Gotye- Somebody That I Used To Know (feat. Kimbra)

a hiatus from blogging.

a hiatus from blogging.

I've been absent from blogging for approximately 511 days. In these 511 days the world has dramatically changed, Kate & Will tied the knot (awwhh), Jodie Marsh became an orange tattooed body-builder (yuck), Wayne Rooney got hair (wow, just WOW) and Kim Kardashian got married... then divorced(in record time I may add).

On the home front during these 511 days I moved to London, started my internship as an account executive at a fashion PR agency, generally got drunk, was cool, hopefully looked pretty darn dapper then headed back up'north to finish my final year at the University of Huddersfield. If you were wondering...yes, it is most definitely grim up north.

Here's how those 511 days looked.
